Open Studios, Sunday 13 July

You are invited to an afternoon of open studios, and a special reading of short fiction, SUNDAY 13 JULY, from 2:00 - 5:00pm

Friends of Aratoi Fellow and artist-in-residence Justine Fletcher is now in residence and with her arrival a wonderful project to acknowledge the 607 women of the Wairarapa who signed the Third Suffrage Petition in 1893 begins to unfold. Over the next three weeks, suspended installations of pendants--one for each woman--will appear across 4 sites, engaging communities across the region, and bringing them together at Aratoi Museum of Art and History.

Come along to Justine's Open Studio and talk with her about her project and her practice: a jeweller for over twenty years she has turned her hand to the visualisation of important events in history. The Friends of Aratoi have funded Justine's residency, and Friends are especially invited to visit Justine from 1pm. NZ Pacific Studio is also supported by Creative Communities Masterton and the Community Organisation Grants Scheme, enabling us to cover promotional and material costs, and support the work of a Community Co-ordinator to the project. As a non-profit, we are very grateful to these organisations and individuals.

At 2:30pm, the emerging and prize-winning writer Zoё Meager will read in the unique Clockmaker's Lost. Zoё is our current writer-in-residence and House Manager, woking on a novella with an interesting subject--come along and find out more
